ScoreMySpeech is an educational app designed to help GCSE and IGCSE students practise spoken French and Spanish. We take user privacy seriously, especially for young people.
ScoreMySpeech is intended for students aged 13 to 17. It is not designed for children under the age of 13.
Users aged 13 to 17 should have permission from a parent or guardian before creating an account. Parents or guardians may contact us to request access to or deletion of their child's data.
When users create an account, we collect an email address and login details. This information is used only to allow users to sign in, manage subscriptions, and save learning progress.
The app records users' speech to analyse pronunciation and provide feedback. Voice recordings are temporarily uploaded to our secure servers for processing by our AI speech analysis service. Recordings are stored temporarily and are automatically deleted after a limited period (typically within 24 hours of processing). Voice recordings are processed automatically and are not routinely listened to by humans. They are not shared with third parties.
Audio recordings are not stored on your device beyond the current practice session. Once uploaded for analysis, the local recording is discarded.
If you choose to upload a photo of your handwritten answer, the image is sent to our server for text extraction (OCR) and is not stored permanently. The image is processed and discarded after the text has been extracted. We do not access your camera or photo library without your explicit permission.
We collect anonymised usage data, such as feature usage and performance information, to help improve app functionality and reliability. This data is not linked to individual users and cannot be used to identify them.
ScoreMySpeech does not display advertisements and does not track users across apps or websites.
ScoreMySpeech uses trusted third-party services to operate the app, such as app hosting, payment processing, and speech analysis. These services process data only on our behalf and in accordance with applicable data protection laws. We do not sell or share personal data for advertising purposes.
We process personal data only where necessary to provide the app's core functionality, to fulfil contractual obligations (such as subscriptions), or with user consent. Users may withdraw consent at any time by deleting their account.
Our servers are hosted in the United States. If you are using the app from outside the United States, your data (including voice recordings and account information) may be transferred to and processed in the United States.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. However, no method of electronic storage is completely secure.
Account information is retained while the account is active. Voice recordings are stored temporarily and deleted automatically after a limited period. Users may request deletion of their account and associated data at any time.
