What happens in this part of the exam?

  1. The Read aloud comes first; the Role play follows it, before the Picture task with conversation.
  2. Read your allocated role-play instructions during preparation and identify the practical information you must communicate.
  3. Your teacher-examiner plays the other person. Complete five prompts and ask the questions required: one at Foundation, two at Higher. At Higher, you also respond to one question using a future timeframe.
  4. Use the setting on your actual card. Practice scenarios below are original exercises, not Pearson stimuli or a promise of what you will be allocated.

Original ScoreMySpeech practice task

Finding a room for a family trip

Transactional practice at a hotel reception: your teacher plays the receptionist. Speak in Spanish. For Higher, replace the breakfast preference with a question about whether breakfast is included and answer the future-timeframe stay prompt.

  1. Say how many people the room is for.
  2. Say how many nights you want to stay. Higher: say how many nights you are going to stay.
  3. Ask how much the room costs.
  4. Say that you would like breakfast. Higher: ask whether breakfast is included.
  5. Say that you prefer a quiet room.

Partner’s practice prompts

Foundation

  1. ¿Para cuántas personas quiere la habitación?
  2. ¿Cuántas noches quiere quedarse?
  3. ¿Quiere desayunar aquí?
  4. ¿Qué tipo de habitación prefiere?

Higher

  1. ¿Para cuántas personas quiere la habitación?
  2. ¿Cuántas noches va a quedarse?
  3. ¿Qué tipo de habitación prefiere?

One language detail: Habitación is feminine: una habitación tranquila. Incluido agrees with the masculine el desayuno.

Foundation / Higher support

These are concise ScoreMySpeech example responses, not official model answers or guaranteed marks. They demonstrate selected requests or questions, not a complete answer to all five prompts. Follow the demands of your actual stimulus.

Foundation approach

Make the message clear

Quisiera una habitación para tres personas. ¿Cuánto cuesta por noche?

Separate the number of guests from the number of nights. Make the price question easy to understand.

Higher upgrade

Add what the task needs

¿Cuánto cuesta la habitación por noche? ¿Está incluido el desayuno?

Use two concise questions that obtain different information. Extra grammar is useful only if it helps the booking.

Common mistakes

A quick practice strategy

One focused rehearsal

  1. Underline mentally what must be requested or supplied.
  2. Say each request and question without writing a speech.
  3. Have a partner reply as the assistant; stay in the transaction.
  4. Repeat, checking that the transaction would actually work.

This is a revision routine, not official exam preparation timing.
