What's covered

Practise every component of your Spanish speaking exam

AI examiner that listens and responds

Speak your answer aloud and the AI responds in real time — just like a real examiner. No scripted choices, no typing. You practise the actual skill of speaking and thinking in Spanish.

Scored using exam criteria

Every answer is scored on Communication, Range and Accuracy of Language, and Pronunciation — the same three criteria AQA examiners use. You see exactly what to improve, not just a generic score.

Foundation & Higher tier

Switch between Foundation and Higher in settings. The app adjusts the vocabulary it expects, the complexity of questions, and the scoring criteria based on the tier you're preparing for.

Full mock exam mode

Run a complete timed mock with all components back-to-back at AQA timings, including preparation time. No hints, strict conditions — so exam day feels familiar.

Common questions

Questions about GCSE Spanish Speaking Practice

What does the GCSE Spanish speaking exam involve?

The GCSE Spanish speaking exam is a recorded face-to-face exam with your teacher that counts for 25% of your GCSE. For AQA (8692, first assessed 2026), the three tasks are: a Role-play, a Reading aloud section with a short unprepared conversation, and a Photo card discussion. For Edexcel (1SP1, first assessed 2026), the three tasks are: a Read aloud with short unprepared questions, a Role play in a transactional setting, and a Picture description and conversation task. Formats and timings differ — always check your specific board's specification.

Does ScoreMySpeech cover AQA and Edexcel Spanish?

Yes — you choose your board in settings and the app adjusts the format, topics, and timings accordingly. You can switch boards at any time if you need to practise for a different one or aren't sure yet which your school uses.

What Spanish topics come up in the GCSE speaking exam?

Topics differ by board. For AQA (from 2026): Theme 1 — People and lifestyle; Theme 2 — Popular culture; Theme 3 — Communication and the world around us. For Edexcel (from 2026), the thematic contexts are: Lifestyle and wellbeing, My personal world, My neighbourhood, Media and technology, Studying and my future, and Travel and tourism. ScoreMySpeech covers all themes, weighted toward what each board tests most often.

Does it cover Foundation and Higher tier Spanish?

Yes — you switch between Foundation and Higher in the app settings. At Higher, the AI expects more complex sentence structures, a wider range of tenses, and more developed opinions. At Foundation, the scoring and prompts are calibrated to what examiners expect at that tier. The difference is substantial, so make sure you've set the right tier.

How does the AI score my Spanish speaking?

ScoreMySpeech scores each answer on three criteria that match what GCSE examiners use: Communication (did you convey the message?), Range and Accuracy of Language (grammar, vocabulary, tense variety), and Pronunciation. After each answer you see where you scored well and where you can improve — specific enough to be actionable, not just a percentage.

Can I practise the Role Play section for Spanish?

Yes. AQA Role-plays involve a cue card with tasks in a realistic Spanish-speaking scenario — some are statements to convey, some are questions to ask, and one is always an unpredictable element. Edexcel's Role play is a transactional task (e.g. booking something, buying a ticket). ScoreMySpeech covers both formats, including the unpredictable elements that catch most students off guard.
