The GCSE Spanish speaking exam is a recorded face-to-face exam with your teacher that counts for 25% of your GCSE. For AQA (8692, first assessed 2026), the three tasks are: a Role-play, Reading aloud followed by a short conversation, and a Photo-card discussion. After reading the passage aloud, the student takes part in a short unprepared conversation based on the same topic. The teacher asks four compulsory questions provided by AQA. For Pearson Edexcel (1SP1, first assessed 2026), the task order is Read aloud and short interaction, Role-play, then Picture description and conversation. Formats and timings differ — always check your specific board's specification.
Yes — you choose your board in settings and the app adjusts the format, topics, and timings accordingly. You can switch boards at any time if you need to practise for a different one or aren't sure yet which your school uses.
Topics differ by board. For AQA (from 2026): Theme 1 — People and lifestyle; Theme 2 — Popular culture; Theme 3 — Communication and the world around us. For Edexcel (from 2026), the thematic contexts are: Lifestyle and wellbeing, My personal world, My neighbourhood, Media and technology, Studying and my future, and Travel and tourism. Practise across the content for your selected board rather than assuming particular topics will appear.
Yes — you switch between Foundation and Higher in the app settings. Foundation can award up to grade 5; the school or teacher should decide the most appropriate tier for each student.
