The GCSE French speaking exam is a face-to-face exam with your teacher, recorded and sent to the board for moderation. It makes up 25% of your overall GCSE grade.
For AQA (8652, first assessed 2026), there are three tasks: a Role-play, a Reading aloud section with a short unprepared conversation, and a Photo card discussion. For Edexcel (1FR1, first assessed 2026), the three tasks are: a Read aloud with short unprepared questions, a Role play in a transactional setting, and a Picture description and conversation task.
